5” Airtight IC Shallow Remodel Housing. Ceiling Opening: 5 1/2”. Lamp: 75W max. For direct contact with ceiling insulation. Integral thermal protector guards against improper lamping. Adjustable socket bracket allows for different lamp types/sizes and proper and consistent lamp positioning. Pre-wired junction box provided with 1/2” and 3/4” knockouts and with removable access plates. Listed for through branch circuit wiring. Shallow depth allows for use in 2 x 6 construction. Housing adjusts to accommodate various ceiling thickness. UL damp location listed. UL feed through listed. Airtight.
So why did I buy this and why do I love it? It’s the only SHALLOW 5″ Airtight IC … I remodeled my kitchen and purchased a bunch of Halo 5″ Airtight IC lighting from H’Depot at almost half the price of this Elco model. So why did I buy this and why do I love it? It’s the only SHALLOW 5″ Airtight IC recessed light that I can find anywhere and — wouldn’t you know it — one of the openings I’d intended to use the Halos for was right beneath a strongback beam in my attic running perpendicular to my ceiling joists. Easy to install Easy to install, the clips went in better than most halo lights I have used in the past. They even have some spare sticker to cover the openings. I would say this is a much better quality than the B&M HD/Lowes lighting which sells for about the same or even more. I have done several Halos in the past and have had trouble getting the clips in especially for plaster ceilings…even with the suggested internet tips to open the clips before putting the fixture up the Halos always are a lot tougher…
