I bought this fan to replace a 20-year old one that was noisy. I did a bit of research and decided to go with a DC motor fan due to the quietness. I chose Minka Aire because they had the most reasonably priced, DC motor fans in the market. I was not disappointed; the fan is extremely quiet.Incidentally, the fan had a slight imbalance. On advice of my father in law, who used to work as an engineer at a major fan company, I just let it run constantly at the mid-speed for 2-3 days…
