It was a design I liked, and despite the number of poor reviews at the time, most seemed to be about blowing out bulbs. I agree, the fixture is extremely bright at full power, so per some of the recommendations, I installed a dimmer with the light from day one. Loved this look, loved it for the 5 months it worked, then grew less enamored as it repeatedly blew out original and replacement bulbs. Over 3 years, spent $200 on the fixture, another $100 on installation, at least $50 on replacement bulbs, and finally another $100 for the electrician to try to fix the problem.
