Hard to install near joists I didn’t enjoy using this housing. There were some good design points but there is room for improvement.The instructions recommend cutting a 4½” hole in the ceiling for a 4″ housing yet the useful stick-on template supplied is 4¼” diameter. I tried making test holes of both sizes in a spare piece of ceiling board and found that 4½” is too big and I am glad I learned that before it was too late. 4¼” diameter is the Goldilocks size.If you are installing a…
Work with 4″ FEIT trims from Costco I ordered 24 of these units for a whole house retrofit upgrade. They came nicely boxed and we’re in good shape in the box. The housing itself has a glossy white finish and standard wiring (for LED pins) in the electrical box. They are not as heavy as Halo fixtures but are IC rated and airtight for a much lower price. Perfect retrofit solution to upgrade your lighting to LED These were just what I needed to replace 30+ year-old canisters that had failed wiring. I’m glad I replaced all 8, as the old canisters’ wiring looked awful. These were a tight fit for me because I left the old canister mounting ring in place.
